About

Founder and Designer Claire Kinder Barrett produces jewelry and art in her verdant lair. Claire is a Vermont-based fine jewelry line specializing in engagement, modern heirlooms, and intricate forms of a distinct style we like to call "micro-architecture." She loves playing with the way various materials and planes interact with one another. Claire's dedication to quality drives her greatest passion: to create a tiny piece of art that will last generations.

Claire holds a BFA in fine jewelry from Pratt Institute (NYC) she received in Spring 2008 and founded Claire Kinder llc in 2010 while working as a salesperson at Catbird in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She moved to Seattle, WA and opened her brick & mortar shop in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in the beginning of 2017. After life got thrown upside down by the pandemic she decided that returning to her roots in the green mountain state and being close to family was a much needed change.
Claire designs and makes all her pieces by hand, on occasion having a complex design drafted in CAD. Her pieces are cast in NYC using only recycled or fair trade sourced metals, or hand fabricated from milled materials that are recycled. Claire does all her own stone setting minus micro pavé and the occasional challenging center stone, which go to an old school bench jeweler who has been setting for 40+ years in NYC's diamond district. All her gemstones are sourced with care, opting for responsibly sourced and fair trade whenever possible.
